During my 1 to 1 class, I was able to learn different methods of using improvisation to choreograph through prompts and emotional catalysts, it was a really creative way of choreographing. Lucy is great at teaching and opening your mind when it comes to developing your dance style and who you are as a dance artist.

KC Ugwu, 20, London UK

My class with Lucy involved a number of improvisational tasks to help me get a broader understanding of my own creativity and help me utilise the full scope of my dance vocabulary. At first, I felt self-conscious (which is one of the things we worked on) and Lucy danced with me to break the ice and ease me in. As the session progressed I became so much more confident not only in dancing in front of someone alone but also in experimenting with style and texture instead of playing it safe. Probably the most exciting and challenging task was to dance with a blindfold on. I felt safe that I wouldn’t bang into anything and I feel with this challenge, because I wasn’t so focused on how I looked, I was able to move more freely within the space and this led to my favourite and most emotional improv piece. I would encourage anyone to train with Lucy, I definitely learnt a lot!
